When Paintings Come Alive: What the Colors Mean As I begin to paint I “feel” the subject of my painting and start to see the subject filled with color. Once this has begun I paint using these colors in harmonizing ways. Many clients ask what the “colors” mean that appear in their commissioned paintings.
