DOLORES BAKER
Artist Statement
Art to me is a multi-hued field of energy that can be drawn upon by anyone desiring a connection with it.
Everything in the universe is made up of the same energy which is expressed in as many ways as there are beings, thoughts and emotions.
Each of us must find our own way to express this energy in our world
Artist Bio
Dolores has had several careers. She began her working life as a Certified Public Accountant for many years but found she needed a more creative outlet so began studying art and interior design at UCLA. She also became a Certified Hypnotherapist, and eventually obtained both a Master’s degree and a Ph. D. in Counseling Psychology, working as a therapist for several years while also creating art.
All these careers give her a wide field of experiences to draw upon for her art.
Dolores now lives in the Rocky Mountains between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. She and her husband, Steve, enjoy time with their llamas and dogs as well as the wildlife in the area around them. These animals are a great source of inspiration for her paintings.
Dolores has been painting for over 20 years in oil, watercolor and acrylic mediums. She has studied with many wonderful artists, including: Robert Burridge, Judi Betts, Diane Perry, Rose Edin, Mark Mahaffey, Ken Hosmer and many others.
“My favorite medium at this point is acrylic because of its versatility and vivid colors.”
Dolores and her husband Steve opened Mago Healing Arts in Cheyenne WY in 2009 to provide alternative healing to the community. In addition to providing energy healing to clients, Dolores’s art work is displayed and sold at the center and provides a healing environment. They also purchased Celebration Metaphysical Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado to expand their ability to help others through education, healing and art.
